Amazing Ackee offers healthy and traditional recipes using ackee, the Jamaican national fruit along with offering many other plant-based recipes that you can make and enjoy at home.
Chantal Thomas grew up in Jamaica where ackee is widely used in recipes from main courses, to desserts and is the main component in the national dish, Ackee and Saltfish. Jamaica is the only country that processes ackee commercially for export. Chantal decided to use her childhood cooking knowledge and bring the special recipes here to Connecticut. Chantal started making Jamaican Patties where the crust is made from scratch using her signature flaky coconut oil pastry with a filling that includes ackee, scallion, onion, coconut oil, garlic, scotch bonnet pepper, herbs & spices and sea salt. She started selling her scrumptious patties at local farmers’ markets and created quite a following. Ackee is a versatile fruit that can be used in a multitude of recipes. So many that Chantal wanted to share with her followers and anyone who wanted to try making the recipes at home.
The Hosting Connecticut team met with Chantal to learn more about ackee and how to create a website that offers her delicious recipes; a website that highlights the native fruit she grew up loving. She has eliminated fears that ackee can be a toxic fruit, provides knowledge on how to identify the usable parts of the ackee and prepare it in numerous ways. On her website, Chantal offers different types of plant-based recipes, many of which include ackee as the featured ingredient.
Chantal also owns Likkle Patty Shop in Windsor where she serves her limited-edition ackee patties along with other specialty menu items and a whole new selection of sweet treats. All are plant-based, no dairy, eggs or animal products in anything she creates. Chantal wanted a website that offered both a place where her customers and future customers can view, print, and share her wonderful authentic recipes and an option to order directly from Likkle Patty Shop online for local pickup at her store in Windsor. Chantal also discussed the desire to grow her online presence while underutilizing the tools she knew could help her grow.
The Hosting Connecticut team reviewed and implemented much needed SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Google Analytics. SEO is a process used to optimize a website’s content and code so it can be found more easily in Google. Google Analytics is now gathering data to guide future growth. HCT used this information to combine and create the new websites which offers visitors variable content through two options, Amazing Ackee recipes and Likkle Patty Shop.
Amazing Ackee displays several categories of food which include step by step instructions to make recipes at home. The Likkle Patty Shop website offers daily menu items for purchase and pick up.
